Owner, Master Trainer, Technician, and Health and Wellness Coach

Marty founded Strength Alive in 2012. Hes has been an athlete for over 27 years, and a personal trainer in public and private gyms for over 10 years.

Marty was motivated to become a coach by watching his mother suffer with MS. Her struggles with mental health and lack of physical mobility helped Marty see importance of mental and physical fitness. Marty believes, “Everybody should take the opportunity to live their best life. We owe it to our selves and our families. We all deserve a shot at releasing endorphins, seizing optimal health and finding relief from stress and anxiety.” He has a deep passion for caring for others and helping them become the best versions of themselves through physical wellness. When his clients lack motivation and direction, Marty helps encourage them to be their best for themselves, families, and careers.

Marty has been a student of training and physical fitness since the age of 14. He joined the football and wrestling teams in high school. Marty’s football coach taught the strength and conditioning course. This started the foundation of Marty’s education in workout design and the tools to be fit for life. As football and wrestling took a backseat, it became evident that weightlifting and running were his passions. While high school came came to a close, Marty’s workout routine and passion for fitness never stopped.

After high school, Marty served in the United States Navy, in which he led his division in fitness programs. He received the highest score possible – 5.0 – on every fitness readiness test throughout his 5-year Navy ten-year. It’s a mark of his impeccable mindset and a great point of personal pride. After the Navy, Marty was able to return home and attend the University of Oklahoma to further his education and enrich his love for health and fitness.

At the University of Oklahoma, one of the top Health Sciences Programs in the country, Marty received a degree in Health and Exercise Science. While at Oklahoma, Marty passed the strength and conditioning, personal trainer, and health coach exams through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He spent years in coursework that included behavior patterns, nutrition, diet and health program design to be more thorough as a trainer and coach for his future clients.

Outside of coaching, Marty has a passion for singing and music, in particular Blues and Heavy Metal. In 2006 Marty was baptized and made Christ his life, and since then he has loved going to church and attending Bible devotional. He enjoys helping people out in unexpected ways, following his personal motto; carpe diem! Today, Marty lives happily with his wife, Lesley, and their children Graydon and Laine.
